lyrics
I’ve heard said that sadness is
The hardest thing to bend
But I think hope is harder
It’s the one thing I can’t end
I can build a steeple
I can climb my uncle’s tree
But I can’t shake this feeling
That there’s more that I could be
I was once a legend, I could skip the farthest stone
But all the ones I skipped came back
They won’t leave me alone
They say I got promise
They say no limit but sky
But most of them have never had the spit to even try
It’s better to never know
That you could reach what’s far
Than fail after the foreign touch
Of what you really are
I can build a steeple
I can climb my uncle’s tree
But I can’t shake this feeling
That there’s more that I could be

This is undoubtedly my single favorite album of all time. It feels like such a perfect culmination of all the themes and ideas Fleet Foxes has been working with since 2008. It answers many of the questions found on both Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up, and represents an incredible maturation and growth in Robin Pecknold's perspective. Their other albums are certainly masterpieces, but this, in my opinion, is their magnum opus. I doubt it will be recognized as such in its time. isaiah_stuart
A hushed and low-lit EP from this Melbourne musician, where dreamlike melodies drift across a bed of tender guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 19, 2023
