Here’s a little something for a broken tiger Here’s a little something for the bones inside her Here’s a little something for an ugly smile Here’s a little something for a midnight child Here’s a little something for a four-leaf owner Here’s a little something for the rock that stoned her Here’s a little something that I wrote for someone Here’s a little something that resembles no one Here’s a little something that the kids can follow Here’s a little something like a nine-word motto Here’s a little something you can get for free now Here’s a little something you can only sing loud Here’s a little something for an adult angel Here’s a little something for my twisted fable Here’s a little something in case I fall over Here’s a little something in the shape I know her Here’s a little something for my favorite brother Here’s a little something for my two-horned lover Here’s a little something I could never tell you Here’s a little something so you’ll know I loved you

If you want to go and tell your story Let those people know what’s what I say take your deepest breath and tell that story Let those people know If all the world’s a stage, my boy Then let that curtain go Tell me, if all you had was one more shot at sharing Would you let them know? I think so In my favorite dreams I’m known for flying over rock and foam As if I ‘d known how to do it every moment I just forgot my own bones If all the world’s a stage, my boy Then let that curtain go Tell me, if all you had was one more shot at knowing If you could have flown Want to know? I think so If all the world’s a stage, my boy Then let those people know If all the world’s a stage, my boy Then give them a good show If all the world’s a stage, my boy Then let that curtain go Tell me, if all you had was one more shot at shining Would you share your glow? I think so I hope so

In my final days Give me something that I can remember In my final days Draw me closer and ask: Did I ever see something that couldn’t be touched by words? Touch something that couldn’t be seen not ever? If I had my way there’d be too much for me to remember I wake every day Take a moment to “God bless” my motion I wake every day Clench a fist and keep it as an option Who knows what’s in store for me, I might say Who knows if I’ll ever see the Indian Ocean I’ll just keep an atlas on hand in case I should ever find that it’s my destined location In my final days Give me something that I can remember In my final days Draw me closer and ask: Did I ever lose myself in moments I can’t explain? Find myself believing in invisible order? Close my eyes and follow a pretty voice Wake up with my feet wet in the Indian Ocean?

Someone’s in my heart Attica, Attica Someone’s in the dark Attica, Attica I don’t know if I will find someone I can love But there’s someone in my heart Attica Someone’s in my sleep Attica, Attica Someone cannot speak Attica, Attica I don’t know if I will find someone I can love But there’s someone in my sleep Attica I may well be wrong The night might not be wrong But if it is I’ll pray for… Someone take my hand Attica, Attica Someone give me breath Attica, Attica I don’t know if I will find someone I can love But there’s so much you could have Attica Someone’s in my heart Attica, Attica Someone’s in the dark Attica, Attica I don’t know if I will find someone I can love But there’s someone in my heart Attica

Here’s the story Best one I know ‘Bout the girl with umbilical lows “Cause if you can’t hear the story then you can’t understand And if you can’t quite believe it then you must take my hand And if you can’t keep the rhythm then you can’t meet the band And then you can’t do nothin’ Every day I’d hear her and groan Lose my mind til I hung up the phone ‘Cause if you can’t keep from screaming then you can’t understand And if you can’t stop your dreaming then you don’t need my hand And if you can’t the rhythm then you can’t join my band And then you can’t do nothin’ Every moment Hesitation Draws me closer to the thing that makes me die Every heartbeat Devastation Every blink of every eye I sigh Here’s the story Best one I know ‘Bout the girl with umbilical lows ‘Cause if I can’t tell the story then you can’t understand And if I can’t make you shiver with the touch of my hand And if you can’t keep the rhythm then you can’t meet the band And then you can’t do nothin’

Open your eyes Young man, you’ve fallen I ask you now did you once fly? Over some time Your eyes have closed and you’ve lost those thoughts That once gave flight Open your eyes Young man, you’ve fallen A thousand moments you’ve let by Over some time your touch grew foreign Your friends and loved ones know not why Over and over your pain grows bolder Over and over your song gets older Open your eyes Young man, you’ve fallen I tell you now you did once fly The sun may shine Your days may be bright But all is dark behind closed eyes Over and over your pain grows bolder Over and over your song gets older

Jordan I never met you But you met me You met my heart You met my song Somehow our lives grew bigger They kept on growing till they touched Until this song Now I can see I’ve always known you The things you wrote to me are truths greater than time The apathy you see around you Is everything I want to crush So crush with me But 70 degree weather And well-worn shoes make both of our souls sing Jordan I never met you But you met me You met my heart You met my song You say you have a weakness But knowing that you’re weak is proof that you are strong And nobody that’s ever breathed life on this Earth Can claim perfection But in truth, is anything on Earth more perfect Than love of family, love of friends, and love of song? So, while you’re singing in your car I’ll be singing just as hard We’re separated by the stars But close enough to share our hearts
23.
The world is old But the love I have is older Because my heart Was born from a love much stronger Time has no reach My first day on Earth I am sure that I knew I was blessed To be born with you at my side What a life I close my eyes And I realize you are with me The world is large But not large enough to keep me Far from love's reach The dreams that I have They were shaped by The force of your faith Faith that gave me hope Hope that I could reach higher than sky I was born this lucky, always What a life The world's large but It can't keep me All the love I have is what you gave me The world spins but It can't move me All the love I have is what you gave me Oh restless lungs You were built to breathe, believe me Oh, love is air And my heart beats 'cause it's in me The world is old But the love I have is older Because my heart Was born from a love much stronger I close my eyes And I realize you are with me The world is large But not large enough to keep me Far from love's reach Time has no reach

The people on my street think I’m strange I avoid their eyes and check my range Don’t ever get close Don’t try to change my glorious quiet My glorious shame I’ve no cause for anger I’ve no sense of pain I forget the beauty inherent in change I cry to forget I cry out of shame I love to be loving Yet can’t ‘cause I’d change So instead I’ll revel in ruts that I dig A mental revulsion that sticks and pricks And always results in nightly pangs I swear that I’m better Remember the words that you hear when you’re young They hold you, and lull you, and care for your love If only these moments could ring in your ears If only you’d hold them and treasure and care But hush, little baby Don’t say a word Clean up your tears and cradle my words And when you get older, don’t be afraid Always keep words of love close to your name And cherish your life A precious a gift A priceless reminder of all that you sing When notes and smiles lose their fun Remember to treasure Remember you’re young You’re young The people on my street think I’m strange

TIME-OUT NEW YORK
"Top 5 Critics' Pick — Auditorium is Spencer Berger, an ex-Metropolitan Opera Singer who weaves a beautiful tapestry of folk, indie, and glam rock…do yourself a favor and check out his Be Brave debut."

THE GUARDIAN
"Sunday" shared as best new song from the United States: tinyurl.com/ooj6uvw

I GUESS I'M FLOATING
“Completely alluring…As if he polished Bowie’s uncertain shrieks and hollers into a marbled, intrepid sheen. A feat in and of itself, Berger recorded the album entirely by himself while still producing something as grand, spacious and ambitious as Be Brave tends to be."

YOU AIN'T NO PICASSO
"Gentle pop bliss."

THE JUSTIN WAYNE SHOW
“The work of an introverted genius…A rich tapestry of heroism, hope and ultimately beautiful music…After five days of listening to it on repeat I’m still not bored.”

MELOPHOBE
“Be Brave comes on like a Bowie/Mercury lovechild, reminding the world that it once was cool to be grandiloquent, and could be again. This is bold music, and a bold statement for a debut LP, effortlessly rising to its own titular challenge.”

PIGEONS AND PLANES
"Really good stuff."

SICK OF THE RADIO
"Has a sound unto itself: part theatrical, part angelic. Berger's voice transcends average pop song vocals and rests itself comfortably on a higher plane. To say his voice is unique would be a serious understatement."

TOWLEROAD
"[Berger] grew up on the stage of the Met and now sings acoustic tunes that frame his quivering, unearthly voice. Be Brave may be stripped back and simple, but it’s got variety to spare from the glammy 'Girls Will Love Your Lips' to the folksy dirge of 'New York Sky.'"

CRAWDADDY!
“I had one of those thrilling 'tell all your friends about this band immediately' moments that leads to a series of mass gchat and facebook linking. There’s an inherent and unrelenting beauty in Be Brave that is impossible to ignore.”

GLIDE MAGAZINE
“Unique as hell…Berger creates a sound unlike anything else…Across all its tracks Berger imbues Be Brave with a sense of elegance and panache.”

MASSLIVE
"4 Stars…Extraordinary…Berger’s got a knack for making the most out of his minimalism…A most impressive first album, by any standard.”

CRITIQULOUS
“It’s like seeing something that gives you a better appreciation of life. Listening to Be Brave…you do end up feeling brave & uplifted.”

CALIFORNIA DINER
“Probably one of the best male vocalists I’ve ever heard in my life.”

RECHARGED RADIO
"I reckon that it was genius."

BEST NEW BANDS
"A genre-defying stunner."

INDIEMUSE
“Among the most creative [music] being produced today- a truly engaging sound that can’t be categorized by a genre.”

MUSIC VAGABOND
"Genius."

CULTURE CATCH
"One of the freshest releases of the year…Wonderfully engrossing.”

M MUSIC & MUSICIANS MAGAZINE
“There’s delicacy in his deft approach, with his sweeping vocals and ornate acoustic settings rekindling memories of Mike Love and the Beach Boys.”
